DEPARTMENT OF CO-OPERATION
About:
The Department of Cooperation, established in 1975, is one of the oldest in the College. Originally offering a B.A. in Cooperation, the program was later restructured and renamed as B.Com. Cooperation, affiliated with the University of Madras. The department is led by experienced faculty members specializing in areas such as Cooperation, Banking, Law, Marketing, and Finance. The department has a strong academic track record, consistently producing University Gold Medalists and students with Distinction Grades. The program equips students with a solid understanding of cooperative principles, the ability to manage cooperative operations and the skills to apply modern management tools and theoretical concepts to real-world cooperative challenges.

To be a focus of academic excellence in cooperative education that nurtures socially responsible, ethically driven, and professionally competent graduates committed to strengthening the cooperative movement and contributing to sustainable rural and economic development.
Mission:
The mission of the department is to deliver high-quality education in Cooperative Laws, Cooperative Banking and Accounting, Commerce, Management, through a dynamic and industry-relevant curriculum. It seeks to instill critical thinking, practical skills, and academic excellence among students to prepare them for diverse career paths and responsible citizenship. The department is committed to promoting students in the areas of cooperative development and financial management. By inculcating ethical values and a spirit of cooperation, the department strives to empower students to become successful professionals, entrepreneurs, and changemakers in society.
Objectives of the Department:
● To deliver the comprehensive curriculum that covers the core sections in Cooperatives, Commerce, Accountancy, and Management.
● To prepare students for entry-level jobs in the industry, that promotes professional
growth in both the cooperative and corporate sectors.
● To encourage entrepreneurial initiatives, motivating students to explore and pursue
entrepreneurial ventures.
● To equip students with essential skills for the cooperation and management of cooperative
institutions and allied enterprises.
● To develop students as key contributors to the economic development of the country.
